In 2010, I travelled more than 30 times in and out of Manila, both for work and leisure-- mostly leisure, local and international destination combined. It was tiring yet fun, savings-depleting but it kept me going during times i got sick of all the daily routines of work and... um... parties.
I didn't mean to be an adventure-junkie. I don't see myself as a traveler nor an explorer. I just do what I do because I can, and I am happy doing it. Although I didn't really mean to go all Dora last year, I must admit travel kept my weekends fun and interesting and I have never felt more alive and happy despite mending an age old broken heart, surrendering to self-imposed unemployment and dealing with a lot of life-changing, principle shattering, soul-searching matters in 2010.
Some people may call it escape... I say it's simply embracing life.
In 2011, I dream big. (Not European big, that's reserved in 2012). But I still want to make it realistic, attainable but quite challenging-- financially atleast. For this year, I plan to decrease my travel in quantity by half but reach a notch higher in... awesomeness. I know I'm not going to put a check mark on all of them, but damn if I don't try.
Thus sharing to you my 2011 Travel Wishlist:
2. Bali, Indonesia - I'm not going for the whole Eat Pray Love thing here. This has been in the wishlist for a while, just looking for the right company to go with.
3. El Nido, Palawan - Coron last year was lovely. I'm expecting El Nido to be ten times better. I'm quite challenged by its relatively pricey-ness. I want to do a tipid trip on this. No luxuries involved whatsoever. Challenge accepted!
4. Romblon - What should have been my 2010 grand master plan. Instead, Batanes happened. Carabao Island, please wait for me.
5. La Union Surf + Poro Point + Sand dunes - This is all happening soon, c/o uber awesome Anywhere Philippines travel group!
6. Pandan island & Apo reef - Another 2010 plan gone wrong. This will not escape 2011.
7. Moalboal, Cebu - I'm flying to Bohol and im planning to visit these Cebu stops as side trip. Ferry and all.
8. Bantayan, Cebu + Virgin Islands - Maybe this will have to be a separate trip. I want that Camotes Island too! :)
9. Malapascua, Cebu- Included in the Bohol sidetrip. I hope. Cross-fingers.
10. Siargao- Not a priority but surprise me, 2011.
11. Donsol- already in the works! Happening as another awesome Anywhere Philippines trip.
12. Bellaroca, Marinduque - My only luxury trip for the year. I promise. So help me God.
13. Hamilo Coast, Pico de loro- Something easy to do so I can atleast manage to make half of this list happen.
14. Amanpulo - I knoooow... wishful thinking right? Hollwood star lang. But actually I found a Php 95k 3D2N plane & accommodation package for 2 in the internet. A friend says he knows Php 45k per pax same package. This must be true then. I am not expecting this to happen really, but this should keep my list quite interesting.
15. Tubbataha Reef - another seriously pricey trip. Only when desperate for a get-away. or Palau, another diving trip. they say it's cheaper than Tubbataha.
Although I hate going to places I've already been to ( just like watching a movie I've already seen ) because I always think there's so many places I haven't been to, why go to the same place, life is short etc etc-- I'm afraid 2011 will throw me some repeats-- like Cebu, Bohol, Calaguas & Ilocos. I'd like to think this will compensate for the wishlist trips I won't be making this year-- but of course in reality it wont. Nevertheless, I wont turn down a chance to go photo-crazy ang go-all travel mode. There's always something new to learn each trip, new friends to meet, great company to cherish and an adventure to experience. I say bring it on, 2011!
I can see it now. I will be dirt poor for the rest of the year-- but travel happy! :)
