My first trip of the year turned out to be a dive trip! And it was sort of my anniversary dive as it happened just a year after I got my PADI license to dive! It was quite an unplanned and unexpected trip, but nevertheless uber fun!

Wow Boracay!
Boracay. The word is synonymous to pristine white sand and a beach we can only describe in one word as paradise. As a self-proclaimed beach bum who has traveled all over the Philippines for years in search for the best beach, I have early on admitted defeat and declared that indeed, Boracay has the best, finest, whitest, powdery sand in the whole of the Philippine archiphelago. No debates.
Palawan For Free
Palawan is indeed Paradise.
If you've read the novel by Alex Garland titled "The Beach" ( an oldie but a goodie ), or more popularly known as that Leo Dicaprio movie called "The Beach", it basically tells you the story of a British backpacker ( Leo was american in the movie though, just one of many things they changed in the movie adaptation) and a French couple in search of the perfect beach paradise-- and they found it in a secluded island in Thailand. Many say that this fictitious Thai island described in the book is actually based from a real life paradise-- Palawan. Garland apparently has backpacked all over the Philippines -- as evidenced by some mention of Philippines destination such as Boracay and Banaue rice terraces in the book. True story.

Unearthing Asia: Great read for the travel-happy people.
I stumbled upon this really cool website. It's called Unearthing Asia, a travel blog zine focusing on Culture, Lifestyle and Attractions all around Asia! And I must say it's actually pretty cool with a lot of very interesting articles & useful content. I started salivating just reading titles such as:
Kaladkarin: My 2011 Travel Wishlist
In 2010, I travelled more than 30 times in and out of Manila, both for work and leisure-- mostly leisure, local and international destination combined. It was tiring yet fun, savings-depleting but it kept me going during times i got sick of all the daily routines of work and... um... parties.
The Call of Caramoan
The Caramoan beach-bumming experience! Sulit.com.ph and Trajet Tours and Travel promote tourism in the Philippines and abroad. Find great travel deals at Sulit.com.ph, the leading online classified ads website in the Philippines." Here is a photo of me and my friends having the grandest time our lives in one the islands of Caramoan, in Camarines Sur. Caramoan, of course is famous for being the location for a couple of shows for the international franchise of the hit reality TV series “ Survivor”. Incidentally, this beach where had this picture taken is from the same island where they shot some of the show's exciting challenges! We even got to explore the set where they filmed the famous tribal council meetings—or what was left of it atleast. |
Batanes Chronicles: Batanes Sneak Peak
long sentences, incoherent thoughts, a little bit of drama, hope, love, life, happiness & the year that was ... ♥
This 2010, I met a lot of new faces, made new friends, seen new and interesting places and learned a whole lot of things about myself, other people and life in general. I’ve learned a lesson or two about letting go, heartbreaks, friendship, music, photography, geography, history, culture, companionship, humility, simplicity, family, love. I learned a great deal about patience, acceptance, the real value of money and time, and a whole lot of nerdy stuff from the series “Big Bang Theory”.
